BASIC FACTS
Geographically, Bali lies 80 south of the equator and is one of 13,677 islands that make up the Republic of Indonesia. Terraced rice fields dominate the landscape. A range of impressive volcanoes running almost through the center of the island with deep ravines and rivers and small streams dissect the luscious green landscape, filling the air with the enchanting sound of running waters.
RELIGION
Almost 90% of Bali’s population practices a unique form of Hinduism called “Hindu Dharma” with Christians, Buddhists and Muslims making up the remaining 10%. The very soul of Bali is deeply rooted in religion and is expressed in art forms that have been passionately preserved over the centuries. To the Balinese, their art and culture are strongly bonded to their religion.
LANGUAGE
The Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia) is the formal language and Balinese is the daily social language used among the Balinese. English is widely spoken in tourist area.
CLIMATE
Bali enjoys a warm, tropical weather all year round, with an average maximum of 240C (750F) from April to September. While November to March features higher rainfall and an average maximum temperature of 290C (840F).
WHAT TO WEAR
Smart, casual clothing is acceptable in most places. When visiting temples, mini skirts, shorts and revealing tops are frowned upon. You can hire cover up sarong at most temples. Expect lots of walking around; comfortable walking shoes are recommended for all tours.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Passports must be valid for at least six months. Visas are not required for nationals of the ASEAN countries. A new regulation recently issued by the Indonesian Government that requires all international visitors to pay for visas upon arrival at the airport. For nationals of Israel, Portugal and Ivory Coast, special visa conditions are required. For further details, contact your nearest travel agent.
HEALTH & AIRPORT TAX
Inoculation against yellow fever and cholera required if arriving from an infected area. Please check for latest regulations at the nearest health office. Airport Tax Rp.100,000 for international flight and Rp.30,000 for domestic flight.

Indonesian Rupiah. Credit Cards accepted in major tourist centers. Tipping expected unless bill includes service charge.
